K8IROS 8.1 — Rosa Parks
This K8IROS 8.1 x Kickasso collaboration pays homage to Rosa Parks, civil rights activist, and long-term Detroit resident. Kickasso brushed the sides of K8IROS with yellow and green to model the bus where Rosa refused to give up her seat in protest of segregation laws. Details of the Detroit based General Motors vehicle including headlights, gills, the windshield, and bus number are also illustrated in the art. A portrayal of Rosa’s stoic appearance can be seen on the back of the shoe, denoting the iconic moment in 1955 where Rosa’s actions impacted the course of history.
This shoe was game worn on October 17, 2018 during the Brooklyn Nets vs. Detroit Pistons game at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.
Troy “Kickasso” Cole, founder of Kickasso Kustoms and influential artist in sports and culture, created all artwork.
